How bad is your cholestorol: February 2020 NEWSLETTER: by Dr Jerry J Masarira, (Naturopath D. CBIS)

Today’s topic is important but let me give you a bit of my previous work background so that you have an appreciation and understanding of this topic.

I was a professional firefighter for ten years. When I passed the Institute of Fire Engineers examination with the IFE institute in Leicester, East Midlands England, I was promoted and became the officer in charge of a Sub-fire station in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe. When you are in-charge, you decide how the fires you attend are supposed to be attacked as soon as you reach the fire ground and also call control room for backup if you think it is beyond your control. No two fires are the same. It’s risky because the lives of your firefighters and the lives you are rescuing are basically in your hands. You decide the method of operation depending on your visual and instinctual assessment of the level of danger and risks to take. It is not easy, you have to be quick and only have one chance to make a correct decision. There is no room for error.

What does that have to do with Cholesterol? I will come to it. Let me go a little further with my firefighting experience.

One day we were called to a very large railways workshop where train engines were repaired and serviced. The big and high workshop was on fire, the roof rafters were already burning. I ordered for a backup fire engine to help. I was faced with a decision to save people inside the workshop and the trains which were in imminent danger. This had to be done simultaneously. I ordered four firefighters with water hose jets, to remain and attack the fire from outside the building aiming at the roof to stop it from spreading to other nearby buildings. I then took six other firefighters inside the burning building pulling our long fire hoses along.

As Officer in-charge you go where there is more risk to your firefighters to give them instructions and confidence as they work. As soon as we got inside the building and assessed, I ordered all firefighters to space up and each one to lean against the surrounding walls of the building with their fire hoses pointed upwards to put out the roof fire which was spreading fast.

The purpose of leaning against the surrounding walls was for two major reasons:

(1.) The power of the water needed to shoot out of the fire hose should not knock you off balance and fall. I had ordered my fire engine driver outside to look at the pressure gauges and to give us 100 pounds per square inch pressure and no less. That was enough water jets pressure for the job at hand.

(2.) The roof will collapse mostly inwards and less outwards. When it does, it does always, at an angle. The rafter edges attached to the wall will in most cases remain intact because heat, flames and smoke goes upwards away from the edges because of cold air pulled up by heat and flames, not sideways towards the joining of walls and rafters. When the roof ridge collapses, it will aim at the center of the room, mostly where dining tables are in family houses. That will then cage firefighters standing and leaning on walls in a right angled roof and walls corridor, but safe from the impact of the collapsing roof.  And that is exactly what happened, but unfortunately one young fire fighter left his position sooner to pull a small machine and in that instant the roof took him to the ground when it collapsed. Fortunately his only last line of defense, helmet and fire jacket saved him he could have died. He escaped with no injuries at all. The broken rafter pointing downwards like a spear still attached to the collapsing roof missed the back of his neck by inches and hooked on the collar of his fire jacket pulling him down to the flooded floor. Talk of missing death by inches. We all stopped putting out fire and ran to rescue him covered with corrugated sheet metal roofing and rafters. Since the roof had already collapsed there was nothing to fear from above. I remember we were very happy when he shouted under cover saying, “Don’t worry gentlemen I am alright” He knew we were worried. There is nothing bad for the officer in charge as losing your man on the fire ground, its bad. The man’s family loses their member. The fire station looses a friend and an experienced firefighter. It takes time and its expensive to train a fireman. Whether the man is wrong or not, it comes back to your poor management. I hated that. It means I should have done something better. That’s how strict the job is. Errors and ignorance take lives.  They should be avoided at all costs. I am grateful he is still alive today 2020 still fighting fires. Being in the field for a long time he is well experienced now. I have been in many dangerous situations. I learned one thing. Human wisdom has no say in protecting us from death or injuries, no matter how educated or experienced. GOD does miracles when it comes to saving lives in any field.

The police officers who were outside were shocked to see seven of us coming out alive after they saw a large building roof collapsing while we were inside the building. They saw smoke, flames and water jets shooting through the roof from inside but they did not see us leaning against the walls. We saved people and six train engines which were being serviced. The railway management sent a letter thanking us for the job and the expenses we saved them. A possible large loss of millions of dollars. Firefighting is a very dangerous but exciting job. I am always in touch with my old friends but I am now saving lives in a different field. The health field. I am committed to do my best as long as I am still living.

Now back to cholesterol. I gave you this mental picture of my past work experience because of similarities cholesterol does its work in our bodies. Very similar.

Cholesterol is Greek (Chole – bile. Stereos – solid. And suffix , ( ol – alcohol).

It is a soft waxy substance found in all body cells. We need it for our bodies to function well. It is a building block for all cell membranes and hormones like estrogen in women and testosterone in men.

Without cholesterol in our bodies, man cannot make sperms because they are cholesterol products, otherwise one ends up with erectile disfunction. All hormones are made out of cholesterol. Our brains are all cholesterol. Less cholesterol in the brain will make the brain shrink causing Alzheimer, dementia disease and memory loss.

When children have allergies, asthma and hay fever they have low cholesterol than healthy ones.

We know that Vitamin D is from the sun, But, without cholesterol you can sit in the desert sun the whole day and still lack vitamin D, because it’s the cholesterol under the skin that converts sunlight into Vitamin D. That’s how important cholesterol is to your body. Without it we literally die. Cholesterol is measured in mg/dl (milligrams per deciliter)

The barest minimum the body needs is 200 mg/dl. Anything less than that is a health threat to the body.

Why then is my doctor saying my cholesterol is high when it is above 200 and I need to lower it?

Hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol) is not a danger to life but, hypocholesterolemia (low cholesterol) is a health risk. Cholesterol can be as high as 600 mg/dl and one is very healthy because the liver manufacture cholesterol according to body needs and demands. Some cholesterol come from foods we eat. We don’t decide the body needs, but the liver does. To fight the enzyme in the liver that produces it with drugs is denying body needs for that time and expect the body to function normally.

Statin drugs like Atorvastatin (Lipitor) Pitavastatin (Livalo, Nikita) Pravastatin (Pravachol) and others, are given to patients to lower their cholesterol by delaying the rate of function of the enzyme in the liver responsible for the synthesis of cholesterol. I know about drugs because I graduated as a Pharmacy Technician. Pharmacodynamics is what a drug does to your body. Pharmacokinetics is what your body does to the drug. Drugs are not food and foods are not drugs. The purpose of food is to nourish and give life. The purpose of drugs is to poison the supposed disease and kill it. That is the very reason you have to be prescribed drugs, because they kill. People who commit suicide do not overdose on beans or carrots to kill themselves. They purposely overdose on drugs they were prescribed, in fact any drug, it does not matter which one including Aspirin, to kill themselves. Because its common knowledge and a fact that drugs kill, but not an overdose of cabbages. If you do cabbages, you add yourself more years instead.

When doctors prescribe cholesterol lowering drugs to a patient, do I blame them? No, because they don’t know. The Pharmaceutical industry is the one that decides the level of cholesterol to be lowered and that is what doctors are taught and that is all they know. The pharmaceutical drugs sales people do visit doctors with all new drugs and convince them that they are good for patients. Once the doctor accepts the drug, your are now at risk, because we always say, “My doctor said…..” We seize from reasoning and are very proud to tell everyone, “I have a personal doctor”.  Please stop and start thinking. You don’t “Have a doctor” you have your body to take care of. Nobody and I repeat, nobody under the sun has a final say about your body and life except you. Get as many different opinions about your heath problems before fixing it. To hand over your body to a doctor and expect miracles is insane. The medical field has what are called “Medical errors” these the THIRD LEADING causes that have killed more people than the disease itself, you are not told because its “Too private” for the public to know. Because of drug prescription, there are illnesses called IATROGENIC DISORDERS (Doctor caused illnesses). They will not tell you. Doctors are very well protected from lawsuits. Unless you are a millionaire and ready to go a long way with hospital lawyers, you are just wasting your money and time. You can try if you think you have a chance. Otherwise, just die privately. Leave the money with your family to survive while you are gone. Pharmaceutical industry is a BUSINESS. The more allergies, the more drugs sold, the more asthmas the more drugs sold, the more brain health problems, the more drugs sold.

Your good health is their enemy. They are multi billionaires because of that. Why are simple diseases like high blood pressure, diabetes, and many other diseases not treated with drugs? The whole idea is to maintain disease and have constant customers. If you take BP drugs and then stop taking them, your BP goes up. When you take them it goes down again. Up and down and up again and down, till you die. When you die it is one honest customer gone. Too bad.

There are types of cholesterol in the body like VLDL (Very Low density Lipoprotein) but we will only discuss the most common two, HDL (High density Lipoprotein) and LDL (Low density Lipoprotein). There are reasons why cholesterol is high in your body. But to assume high cholesterol causes bad health, is not correct. Look at it this way, seeing many firefighters at the scene of the fire does not mean they caused it. In fact the more firefighters they are, the higher the threat, and they are fighting to save lives. The less they are when there is a high risk, the danger it is to life and property.

Here is what happens.

High cholesterol protects you from infectious diseases.

ANERGY- is a condition where the immune system is not functioning well. People with anergy have a high risk of infectious diseases as well as those with very low cholesterol.

Babies in their mother’s womb need cholesterol to build their hormones and also their brains before they are born. If for any reason they have less cholesterol, they will be born with deformed features both body and broad faces as IMBECILES. If the cholesterol is far too low to develop their brains, they are born as STILLBORN babies.

Cholesterol in men is what make sperms. With very low cholesterol, a man becomes impotent and have difficult in raising high sperm count with the ability to fertilize female eggs. The same applies to women who have problems producing strong eggs to get pregnant. Both should be checked for low cholesterol levels if they have that problem. That is why we have a lot of A LOT OF ERECTILE DISFUNCTION in Men these days. They get cholesterol drugs they don’t need. Then what happens next? You get treated for erectile disfunction by your doctor. It a vicious circle, please jump out of the circle, its not true. They are making money out of your ignorance.

The purpose of HDL, is to carry cholesterol from the peripheral tissues to the liver where it is excreted with bile and reused again.

LDL is regarded as the BAD cholesterol. That is not true. (Remember the railway fire scene where we got inside the burning building with more firefighters? Did we cause the fire? Were we BAD firemen? No, we were called to extinguish it) In fact LDL is very good. It works, going the opposite direction. The bigger their number does not mean they brought the disease as is assumed and given the name (BAD Cholesterol). It is a submarine in the blood to work very close to the problem to eliminate the risk. It destroys microorganisms and also binds as well as inactivates all toxic products from blood flowing. Very important job. Without it inside the blood and fighting, nothing could be saved. I believe if anyone has AIDS, there is more LDL in the blood, but LDL did not give you AIDS. Its more because of the level of threat.

A poisonous substance called, ALPHA-TOXIN is produced by a bacteria called STAPHYLOCOCCI. This, destroys all kinds of human cells including red blood cells. It is very dangerous and a serious threat to life. An experiment was carried out by Dr Sucharit Bhakdi, from Giessen in Germany. Alpha-toxins with human serum were added to a test tube with red blood cells dissolved in saltwater, the cells burst because of the LDL in it that neutralized the effects of the toxins.  LDL is a life saver, it helps the immune system to fight off diseases. Where you see it in large numbers, there is a health enemy. We were created with the ability to deal with all health problems coming to our bodies as long as we eat right foods, and not left at the mercies of human beings who are not honest. In fact they are very selfish. As long as you work your money and give them, they don’t care about your health.

Do you know of anyone who died because of high Cholesterol? I don’t know of any. It’s a mirth, once many people are convinced high cholesterol is bad, the more diseases will develop and more money for the pharmaceutical industry. The cholesterol “Issue” is a new thing, invented to sale more drugs.

We never had cholesterol issues for years back until now, now, 1989 when a cholesterol campaign was first introduced in Sweden.  In fact it was less talked about, and now it is in our daily news and we talk about it first thing during any doctor’s visit, why? Because of the Business Man, Mr Pharmaceutical. Remember the Food and Drug Industries are under one roof. Be careful.

They do not smile when you are strong and healthy. You should see the hatred and anger on their faces and in their heart.

Please eat organic plant foods, exercise, sleep, drink water, laugh a lot, don’t waste time on things you have no control over, you are not God, just tell Him your problems and forget.
