Chemicals in your food - February 2022 Newsletter - Written by Dr Jerry J. Masarira. Naturopath D. CBIS
Not all labels are what they seem. It is important to be armed with the correct knowledge regarding the labelling and processing of food.
Foods with chemicals are in every grocery store. Boxes, cans and packets are loudly claiming how healthy they are. All the packaging labels, Low carb, Low fat, healthy meals etc, are NOT what they say they are. It is business language. They don’t have your health in mind, they also have no nutritional value. WATCH OUT!.
Most of us think, “Flavor” is coming from the food we eat. As if the flavor for strawberries is from squeezed strawberries. All the flavors are from over 50 different chemicals made to imitate the taste of any flavor you are looking for. All the yogurt and drinks that we love are fake flavors. The flavors are closely guided secrets for the manufactures. It is all about business, not necessarily your heath and well being. In fact your death is not their concern. Money and profit are their primary concerns.
Why then do they add flavors? The factory removes the fat from the beef to make it low fat. While they are still working on it, they add chemicals so that they do not get spoiled and lose business.
Next, they sterilize the food and cook it to excess to ensure there is no risk of bacteria contamination.
The next time you eat a bag of freshly popped popcorn and the butter flavor smell, remember this: Hundreds of workers at pop corn plants contract a rare, irreversible deadly lung disease called Bronchiolitis obliterans its even known as Popcorn Lung. The disease is caused by inhaling butter flavoring made from Diacetyl. Diacetyl is the yellow liquid you may mistake for actual butter in your microwave popcorn. It looks like it, it tastes like it, and even smells like it. Some side effects of the microwave popcorn are asthma, bronchitis, emphysema or pneumonia. You don’t know you have it until you need a lung transplant.
Governments have been aware of it since the year 2000. The Food and Drug Administration continue to give Diacetyl a pass called, GRAS “ Generally Recognized As Safe”
The best practice is to eat your own home grown organic food. It's time gardens and farms as well as organic grown foods become an essential part of our diet.
To eat for taste and to eat for nutrition are different sides of the coin, they will never meet. Make your choice.
